Encaustic

This new work explores combining encaustic with digital images. Encaustic uses hot beeswax and resin, a painting technique that dates back to first century Egypt. I mount an image on a wood panel and apply multiple layers of wax, sometimes combined with pigments. The process creates depth and luminosity as well as a luscious surface that begs to be touched.
