The Bungalows at Indian Head

I took these photos between 1998 and 2009 at an old site in the desert southeast of Los Angeles. The resort was a favorite getaway for Hollywood stars such as Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe during the 1940s and 50s. By the time I began photographing them, they had been abandoned for many years. Although these ruins are evidence of a once thriving and glamorous vacation spot, I never felt a sense of nostalgia or loss when I was photographing them. I could hear the echo of ghosts, but I loved how these structures were sculpted by the elements, changing with each passing year.
